We are looking for a Mid-Level Data Engineer with strong experience in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to join our team for a short-term, 4-week project. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in ETL processes, data integration, and database management. This is a fully remote position, but the candidate must be based in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using SSIS to ensure smooth data flows between systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable data integration solutions.
- Optimize and troubleshoot SSIS packages for performance and reliability.
- Manage, transform, and integrate large datasets from various sources into existing databases.
- Ensure data quality and consistency throughout the ETL lifecycle.
- Document data workflows, processes, and technical requirements.
- Review and document all dependencies between SSIS jobs and other systems (databases, applications, or external data sources).
- Capture the detailed logic of each SSIS package, including data sources, transformations, and destinations.
- Document how error handling and logging are set up within each SSIS job.
- Review and document the scheduling mechanism (e.g., SQL Server Agent) for SSIS job execution, along with any automation or trigger conditions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience working as a Data Engineer, with a strong focus on SSIS.
- Proficient in SQL and experience with SQL Server database management.
- Hands-on experience with ETL design, development, and implementation.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data transformation techniques.
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality principles, and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be US-based and eligible to work in the US (US Citizen/Permanent Resident)
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Familiarity with other ETL tools or scripting languages like Python.
- Understanding of data security and compliance standards.
